“Green energy” is a term that you will surely hear a lot more in the future since we are getting closer and closer to fossil fuel depletion. The problem is that most people do not actually know what green energy actually is. What are the energy sources that can be called green and is there such a thing as a future for renewable energy? Every single person and company can contribute to what is being labeled as a green future but this is impossible if it is not understood what green energy is in the first place.

What Is Green Energy?

We can define green energy as being energy that is produced with the minimal possible environment impact. This practically means that the quantity of harmful byproducts that appear during energy production is negligible when compared to gas, oil and coal. Practically, power is produced without having to pollute. There are many energy sources that are non-polluting and environmentally friendly. These are called green since less pollution is created and there is much lower carbon emissions present.

Green Energy Sources

In order to produce electricity that fits under the green energy label, green energy sources are necessary. These are practically the sources that are labeled as being renewable, including geothermal, hydro, wind and solar energy.

It is possible to create green energy from biomass (waste) and biofuels (biodiesel and ethanol). There are also some people that see nuclear energy as being green energy. However, this is still under debate. What is important is to realize the fact that not all the bio energy sources are actually green and clean. As an example, wood is a wonderful energy source. However, when you use wood you damage the environment. Also, its combustion will produce various different harmful byproducts.

The Importance Of Energy Conservation

When talking about renewable energy also have to discuss energy conservation as it is a really big part of everything. When you use green energy you are connected to various practices like minimizing waste, minimizing pollution and recycling. As an example, when you use the solar energy power cells to make and store power, no waste is created. Pollution is zero as you harvest energy coming straight from the sun. There are basically no byproducts that are harmful to mention.

Making The Shift

The most important thing to remember at the end of the day is that the electricity you use in your home can be green. You want to work with companies that care about the environment at the very least, like Lindsey Manufacturing, a company that does all that it can to reduce electricity waste, even if they do distribute regular electricity.

Whenever possible, try to use green energy sources as they work exactly in the same way as the electricity supply you use at the moment. What has to be changed is the electricity source. Make sure that you see if you can switch to green energy. If possible, see what has to be done for the shift to be made.
