Dr. Cletus Georges is a specialist in Urology who helps men to overcome common urological problems. Dr. Georges is primely focused on helping men with prostate conditions, erectile dysfunction, and urinary incontinence. He is a current member of the American Urological Association.

Dr. Georges says that there are some common misconceptions that men have about their urological issues. “A lot of men feel that urinary incontinence is a sign of old age, but it can happen to anyone at any time,” Dr. Georges states, “Incontinence has many causes, and sometimes the cause may be something simple like a medication or an illness.”

When asked what the most common causes of urinary incontinence were, Dr. Georges replied that they are mostly related to age. Other factors that can cause male incontinence include prostate cancer surgery, diseases like diabetes, and neurological problems like stroke. “There are different types of urinary incontinence treatments depending on the type of problem one has.”

Dr. Georges goes on to say, “Erectile dysfunction is another common concern for men. Studies show that about 20 million men in the United States have erectile dysfunction, and this number gets larger every year.” He further states that many factors may cause ED, including diabetes, high blood pressure, stress, and depression.

Dr. Georges says that another problem men have is with their prostate gland. He says that a lot of men don’t really know much about the prostate gland, “They aren’t aware that it can be enlarged and cause problems.”

Common symptoms of an enlarged prostate include weak urine flow, frequent urination at night, dribbling after urinating, and incomplete bladder emptying. Dr. Georges says that prostate problems are usually found during a routine physical when the doctor examines the abdomen for swollen lymph nodes, indicating prostate cancer.

“These days, we have advanced technologies and more medical options than ever to help men with their urological problems,” says Dr. Georges, “We can now provide treatment in the comfort and privacy of one’s own home.”

Dr. Georges says that another common issue for men is low testosterone. He says that people have been more aware of this issue lately and that it’s being treated with testosterone replacement therapy more frequently. However, testosterone levels start to decline after 30 and can affect sexual desire and morning erections. “I encourage men who are interested in treatment for low testosterone to speak to their doctor about it,” Dr. Georges says, “It can make a world of difference to their quality of life.”

“For instance, ED can be caused by an underlying health problem that needs to be addressed. Other conditions like urinary incontinence have treatments available that can help men overcome these issues.”

Dr. Georges says that he is compassionate with his patients and treats them as if they were part of his family, “I focus on my patients’ concerns and try to work with them as a team to help them overcome their problems. But, at the end of the day, it is the patient who has to live with the problem, so I do all that I can to help them.”
