2021 has arrived and you’re looking for things to see and do to entertain yourself. While the Sydney CBD always has a lot to offer, there is so much to do out in the Western Suburbs as well.

In this article, we’ll take a look at some things to keep you entertained out west during 2021 and beyond.

#1 – Pay a Visit To the Museum of Fire

What is the Museum of Fire?

It’s a museum in the Western Suburbs that celebrates the bravery and service of Australian firefighters. Unlike other museums, this one focuses entirely on the history of the firefighting industry, with some old and very interesting exhibits, which include things like:

  • Old fire trucks
  • Firefighting equipment from bygone eras
  • Uniforms
  • An old headquarters switchboard
  • And much more…

It’s an intriguing and fun day out for people of all ages and offers a unique glimpse into a very important part of our heritage and history.

The museum also hosts a variety of events throughout the year for added entertainment.

#2 – Tantalise Your Taste Buds With Healthy Vietnamese Cuisine

If you haven’t tried Vietnamese food yet, then you’re missing out. Not only is there a lot of variety, Vietnamese cuisine is rated as some of the healthiest in the world.

If you’re craving for some tasty Vietnamese noodle dishes, then visit a quality Vietnamese pho restaurant. You’ll be amazed by the choices and all the different colours and flavours on offer.

Sydney’s west plays host to many Vietnamese restaurants and food from other cultures. To locate one, go online and type in something like the following to find one in your desired location: “Vietnamese restaurant Lidcombe” or something similar.

#3 – Western Sydney University Observatory

When people think of going out and being entertained, they think of dining out, going to a bar, seeing a movie and so on, but what about trying something a little different and educational?

The Western Sydney University Observatory offers exactly this type of unique opportunity.

Located just off the Great Western Highway, the observatory allows visitors to stargaze and study our planets and solar system. You can even sit in on talks presented by some of the country’s greatest astronomers.

It’s something completely different to do and well worth a look at least once.

#4 – Fancy Yourself a Ninja Warrior?

You may have seen the TV show and thought to yourself that you would like to try your hand at being a Ninja Warrior.

Well, now you can.

Just get on down to Flip Out at Smeaton Grange and have a go at their very own Ninja Warrior course. It’s perfectly safe and a fantastic place to test your skills and build up your fitness levels. It’s loads of fun and there’s something there for people of all ages, including trampolining.

If you prefer to chill out and let someone else get physical instead, just relax in the indoor cafe with a beverage of your choice.

#5 – Embark On An Architectural Heritage Walk

This takes place in the trendy Parramatta district of Western Sydney and offers visitors and locals a chance to really admire and respect the local architecture. Take a leisurely guided stroll around the streets and discover some of the history that surrounds the buildings and the Parramatta region.

The tour is both educational and inspirational and offers a relaxing way to spend a few hours in the local area.

#6 – Get Your Adrenalin Pumping With Go Karting

Sydney’s West boasts a number of both outdoor and indoor go karting tracks. If you want to get the adrenalin pumping and test your competitive racing skills, you’ll find yourself spoilt for choice. This is a fantastic opportunity for a group of friends to pit their driving skills against one another in a safe and fun environment.

When the racing’s done and dusted, kick back with a cold drink and some snacks while watching the action as other competitors go round the track.
