A review of "Jersey Girl" — 2 years ago

I enjoy Kevin Smith’s work. Dogma was my introduction and I quickly went through his catalog. I was able to watch Jersey Girl on TNT.

It is a cute film. George Carlin was superb. The actress playing Gertie was very talented and Ben Affleck was believable.

I am assuming that most people were looking for Chasing Amy or a Silent Bob film. I think Kevin did go “hollywood” but he did an excellent job of following the formula. It almost seemed like a love poem he was writing to his child. You could see the transformation of the main character which (I assume) followed Kevin’s life.

It made me laugh out loud several times and it was heart warming, if not formulaic.

I do recommend it and I would watch it again.

Why I recommend "Empire" — 2 years ago

    WORTH CONSUMING!

Orson Scott Card is one of my favorite authors. This book starts off pretty slow and it takes about 75 pages to get into the story. It isn’t like his other books, but it kept me interested and looking at the world a little differently.

It is an “alternative present” story. Not like Alvin Maker, which is “alternative history.”
