    WORTH CONSUMING!

Not bad. A little confusing for me, since I wasn’t familiar with some of the older characters. Also, I didn’t really understand what Verheiden was trying to do with the book, and only gained an appreciation for it after I understood his intent – without that, it’s just an implausible confusing story. J’onn J’onzz is kinda scary, though.

    WORTH CONSUMING!

A good topic, with decent learning about the production of chocolate and cacao, but I didn’t particularly care for the writing style. Rosenblum is not a gifted writer and the jumping around between topics didn’t do anything for me.
Also, I had the large print edition from the library and I didn’t care for the font. I know it’s not a strike against the content, but it made the book less fun to read.

    WORTH CONSUMING!

Really good. Not perfect, and I found some of the action scenes a little confusing, but well-written, with a sufficiently sophisticated vocabulary to keep it from getting boring.
The world that Mieville made is definitely rich and full and ambitious, but maybe a little too much was introduced for the one novel. Also, I sometimes found myself analyzing the “sciency” bits, but I tried to keep that to a minimum as they really weren’t intended to be rigorous and I’m only hurting myself.
Very enjoyable, and I’m hoping to get to Scar real soon now.
