A nice romantic comedy — 1 year ago
The pacing seemed a bit slow at times, but overall I liked it. Kind of a chick flick – not that there’s anything wrong with that.

But it wasn’t. But that’s OK because Running With Scissors was a good movie anyway, if you like movies about disfunctional families.
The film’s set mostly in the late 1960s and the 1970s, and most of the details (music, fashion, cars, decor) rang true with me. Great acting, too.
Amazing story. Will Ferrell’s great, as are Dustin Hoffman, Maggie Gyllenhall and of course the wonderful Emma Thompson.
The movie’s supposed to be set in any American city, but they filmed in Chicago, which brought back great memories.
Rent it!
[Chorus:]
One of a thousand pities you can’t categorize
There are ten commandments of love
When will you realise
There are ten commandments of love
I believe, I trust, I promise, I wish love’s just a throwaway

I found this cassette in my car and listened to it on the way back from Madison on Tuesday night.
Early-90s high-production value music. Brought back a lot of memories.
If you love bears—especially anthropomorphised ones—you’ll love this book.
Here’s something terrific from author Jasper Fforde’s web site:

We found this book at Barnes & Noble the other night and we’re just a few chapaters into it. But so far it’s a scream. Jasper Fforde is very funny. The story’s about an obscure county in England where Nursery Rhyme characters, including bears, live among humans. Jack Sprat is a detective with the local police department, where he specializes in Nursery Crimes.
If you love comedians and really, really dirty jokes, you’ll love this movie.
You don’t want to watch it with your parents or children.
Wha Guru Chew bars are amazingly delicious. I just had a Cashew Almond bar, which is dairy-free. I’m also a big fan of their Almond Ginger bars.
Underrated by critics, but I think it’s one of Pete Townshend’s most sprirtual recordings. I especially like “The Sea Refuses No River,” “North Country Girl,” “Somebody Saved Me” and “Slit Skirts.”
