i’ve been spending so much money on salon-type shampoos, and found that my hair was still dull and lifeless. my last purchase was something “organic” and really expensive, and all it did was smell like dirt and make my hair look and feel greasy and dull. so i tried the dude’s super-cheap “bachelor” shampoo, and i realized that the shiny, fresh-smelling, soft hair i always wanted was just 99 cents away.

in an effort to keep things simpler, i decided to go back to the old tried-and-true noxzema cleanser. the kind in the big blue pot. it smells like mentholatum, is nice and tingly, fun to stick your fingers into, inexpensive, easy to find, and above all, makes my skin feel nice.

i recently found out the hard way that i have a PPD allergy – i’m allergic to the chemicals in dark dyes, especially “supermarket” hair dyes. this is unfortunate because i dislike my greyish dishwater haircolor and prefer something richer. so i’ve recently turned to henna. i really like this product. my hair is shiny and a nice deep chestnut color. it’s only marginally more complicated to apply than “traditional” box-type hair dye, and it has an earthy grassy smell that’s nicer (in my opinion) than the chemical smell of the other dye.
