A story about "Small White Town" — 2 years ago
Really smooth, wonderful, powerful. One of my favorite albums of all time.

I’m really surprised at the negative reviews here. I thought the book was amazing, riveting, so much more than the surface level these reviews assume. It’s beautifully written, with vivid descriptions that brought me to those places…making me examine my own emotions, my own past errors, my own understanding of Carrie’s actions. It’s about the essence of life not being a list of ways one ‘should’ act, but the way one must—not in acts of selfishness, but in acts of need. The need to be honest, and to be fully alive. I loved it.
LeHane is one of my favorite authors. This was more than mystery—it’s full of twists and turns and utter surprises. I couldn’t put it down. Amazing story telling.
I was disappointed in this. At times it was too text book, and at other times it was too over-written philosophizing.
A quick and easy mystery to read. The only thing that bugged me was the trying too hard to be politically correct or whatever. I mean, come on, one of the characters is a lesbian in a wheelchair.
A quick, whimsical read. Fun, but I only voted it ‘wishy washy’ because it’s not life changing or anything. It’s pretty good.
This is magic. See my review on my blog:

I loved this book. I devoured it. Hoffman is one of my favorite authors—I have to read her books while holding a pen so I can underline passages that stir my soul.
I love food-related books. This is right up there with the Sweet Potato Queens and Paula Deen with Southern foodie fun.
I had a bit of a hard time getting into this initially, but ultimately the author’s wonderful imagination won me over. I think I like Eragon better, and Wicked, even Harry Potter…but if you like the fantasy type reads, you’ll probably like this as well.
