Why I recommend "The Subtle Knife (His Dark Materials, Book 2)" — 3 weeks ago
I recommend listening to the audio version of these books. The audio includes a full cast—it’s one of the best YA books/series to hear.
I'm currently reading 3 books, listening to 0 albums, watching 0 movies, eating and drinking 0 food items, and consuming 0 other things.
I recommend listening to the audio version of these books. The audio includes a full cast—it’s one of the best YA books/series to hear.
I recommend the audio book—it’s quick (only four discs), with excellent narration by Caitlin Greer. I didn’t want it to end.
I highly recommend the audio book version of this—excellent.
I recommend the audio book. If you enjoy Norse Mythology, I also recommend the audio of Runemarks, by Joanne Harris.
I listened to the audiobook version of this, and this really is the perfect type of tale that is suited to audio. Excellent. Every bit as good as The Looking Glass Wars, or Harry Potter, etc
I highly recommend the audio book of this, read by Gerard Doyle. The tale itself is excellent, but the narration makes this more theatrical.
I highly recommend the audio version of this book. Gerard Doyle does a fantastic job of reading, giving each character a new voice and inflection. It’s like listening to a theatrical production. Audio is the only way to go.
I recommend the audio book, read by the author. It adds a dimension to the story that might be lost otherwise.
The mystery itself was interesting enough, but the wording was bizarre. I prefer writing that is more conversational. This was oddly formal—words that no one ever uses, like ‘thence’.
It’s interesting that the reviews here are rather blah, when the reviews I read on a blog (that inspired me to read the book in the first place) were all saying they were sad to see the book end. I thought it was a wonderful book-basically about the relationships that developed between strangers thrown together in a hostage situation. I could feel the passion about music and song. I was disappointed in the ending, however. I would have preferred the book end several pages earlier-perhaps when they were all cavorting in the grass. Let the reader imagine a future for them.
