A review of "The Bodyguard" (rated 2 stars)

The Bodyguard

by Panna Rittikrai

Alright, you see the little thumbnail of the cover over there? You see Tony Jaa leaping to finish someone off, giving ‘em chronic migraines for the rest of their lives? See? Right there on the right hand side of the cover.

He’s in the movie for less than 3 minutes. Don’t judge a DVD by its cover. At least I know now that he’ll be making a cameo in the sequel.

A review of "SPL (Sha Po Lang)"

SPL (Sha Po Lang)

by Wilson Yip

Finally, Hong Kong action is back.

I have no clue why Donnie Yen is not as popular as Jackie Chan or Jet Li here in North America. I wouldn’t consider it an “action-packed” film (I mean, for the first-half hour there’s only one punch, I think) but Donnie Yen’s choreography is simply superb – mixing the fanciful martial arts you see in everyday kung fu films and adding a healthy does of Ultimate Fighting-like takedowns and grapples.

And seeing Sammo Hung playing a ruthless gangster is quite a change from his oft-played humorous and merciful characters. It’s like a cute ol’ cuddly panda bear snapped one day and decided to shove bamboo shoots up the zookeeper’s ass. Well, almost like that.

A review of "The Tiger Blade"

The Tiger Blade

by Theeratorn Siriphunvaraporn

After seeing the trailer, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a copy of this Thai-action flick. Then after watching the movie, I realized the trailer pretty much summed up all the really good parts. It didn’t seem up to par with recent Thai action flicks like Born to Fight, Ong Bak, or Tom Yung Goong.

Why I want to consume "Core"

Core

by Stone Temple Pilots

This was the cassette that was pretty much built in to my Walkman back in high school. I just “re-discovered” the CD this weekend, ripped it onto iTunes and my iPod, and have been reminiscing ever since – and amazed I haven’t forgotten a single lyric.

A story about "Eat This Book: A Year of Gorging and Glory on the Competitive Eating Circuit"

An easy $50,000 can be made stuffing yourself with food. I’m in the wrong line of work apparently.
