Same like this one... — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It’s good, but it’s really a rehashing of the same information by Chilton’s other book, Paradise Restored. I’d suggest Paradise over Tribulation, and you’ll get the same basic idea.

A review of "The Areas of My Expertise" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

...As for the actual content of the almanac, never in my life could I have imagined the vast wealth of knowledge contained in the mind of Mr Hodgman. Never could I have grasped the complexities of the seedy side of the back-stage areas of the Mall of America. Never could I have understood the legendary stories of the hobos and their monarchs. Neither would I have possibly imagined the rich true history of the 51 United States and it’s Presidents. And if it weren’t for this book, I would never have known the sad story of the Furry Old Lobster (song by Jonathan Coulton). And there is so much more useful world knowledge to take in, I fear I would not do it justice to try to describe it all in blog-form…

It's ok — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’ll say that this wasn’t my favorite by CS Lewis. I thought he would go more into some real depth of the understanding and coping and theology of pain. However, there were several “wow moment” in the book where I had to go back and re-read, and re-read again in order to fully grasp what he was saying. Some really profound stuff at moments.

A story about "Céu" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I stumbled across this CD by chance on iTunes and I have to say that I love this album. I can’t speak a word of Portuguese, but the music and her voice really speak and transcend the language barrier. So good.

Why I recommend "Mere Christianity" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is an incredible book! One of Lewis’ bests ever! He presents so many truths and basic Biblical foundations, but expounds on them in a way that many cannot express with words. He’s taken many things I’ve already known and phrased them in a way that I’ve actually learned more about them. This is a book that everyone should read, whether a Christian to deepen their faith, or anyone else to really understand what a Christian is about.

Great addition to the Jars library — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I really love this album. I love Jars of Clay overall, but this is a great addition to their collection. I still think their debut album is their absolute best, but this is in the top three albums they have released. There are several songs that I enjoy on this… the majority of them. Go out and buy it.

Amazing story and truth! — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is an amazing story with an incredible truth underneath! Of course, the plotline is fiction, but the theology behind it really makes you think. There were so many points that I had to stop, go back over, and think about to really get the depth Lewis was exposing. I loved it! This is definitely one to re-read and to take notes on and to learn from.

A hard read, but a good lesson — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This was, in my opinion, the hardest read by CS Lewis that I have experienced thus far. Maybe it was because I was slightly preoccupied while listening to it (audiobook). The message is a good one, though. I believe it has much to do like an exposition on the first two chapters of Mere Christianity, but taken from a different perspective. By the end I understood the point Lewis was trying to make, and did enjoy it, but this one definitely made me work harder to get to the end.

Why I recommend "I Am Not But I Know I AM: Welcome to the Story of God" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is a great book about perspectives of life. Too often we think that it’s all about us when in reality it’s all about God. This isn’t our story. It’s our part in God’s story. It’s a story too magnificent and too grand for us to comprehend, but once we enter eternity we will finally see, as a painted tapestry rolled out before us, how our little plotline fits in to the overall master scheme and plot. And then we will finally be able to understand how our triumphs, losses, happinesses, sadnesses, and every other circumstance was working out to progress the story and, in reality, benefit us.

WORTH CONSUMING!

The world’s most perfect food substance. Surely this is what will be served every night for dinner in heaven.
