Mr. Ferry seems to like the rainbow halo, since he has used it on other covers. I’m still listening to this album, so my feelings could change. Like every album I’ve ever listened to, there were songs that I really didn’t like and others that I did like. Bryan Ferry’s voice is evocative and that quality fills some of the songs, even through the eighties vibe that came across in some of the songs. Maybe he could have thought through the production more, somewhere I read that he recorded this in a week. On the other hand, these are mostly folk songs- so how much production do you expect! I distinctly remember Knocking on Heaven’s Door when Bob Dylan recorded it and thinking that it stank. Ferry’s version is bit bouncy but over time it may improve.
