A story about "Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia" — 2 years ago

I haven’t finished it yet, but I’ve already made a change in my own life because of this book! She mentions a friend a friend who, every time they travel, exclaims “This place is beautiful! I have to come back!” And the author reminds her that she is already there, so why not enjoy it now?

I was in NYC for the first time for work last week. I dreamed about all the things I’d like to do, but didn’t have time for because of all-day meetings. Instead of hoping we’d come back, or planning another trip, I changed my return ticket and stayed the weekend… because I was already there; why not make the most of it?

I suppose I find this book inspiring :)

A story about the last time I consumed "Brand Upon the Brain!" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I had the great opportunity to see Brand Upon the Brain! at the Music Box with a live ensemble, including a twelve-piece orchestra, three sound-effect people, a castrato singer, and narration by Crispin Glover. It was incredible! Clever, humorous, provocative. Worth the price of admission just to hear Crispin Glover bellowing “Rumania! Rumania! Rumania!”

A review of "Mars and Venus on a date" — 2 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This book (and the therapist that recommended it) encouraged me to be someone other than myself in romantic relationships in order to get married. What kind of relationship is built on that foundation? Very similar to what I’ve heard about “The Rules.” Don’t bother with this one.
