A story about "The God of Small Things" — 51 weeks ago

I have wanted to read this for a long time but just can’t get into it (still on the first chapter). There are plenty of other books that I had this problem with and years later fell in love, maybe this will be one!

A story about "Empress of the World" — 51 weeks ago

I am listening to the podcast of the book read by Sara herself and loving it. It makes for a lovely commute.

A story about "Everything Is Illuminated" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I started listening to this audiobook, but never got past the first tape. It just didn’t resonate with me the way Foer’s ‘Extremely Loud’ did.

I really loved the movie. I was slightly unnerved by Elijah Wood’s (JonFen) glasses the whole time, though. Wasn’t that hell to wear such magnified glasses during filming? Also it reminded me too much of his ‘Kevin” character in Sin City. Creepy.

A story about "Full Frontal Feminism: A Young Woman's Guide to Why Feminism Matters" — 1 year ago

I like the subject matter, but I was hoping to use some of this in my Introduction to Women’s Studies course but the language is a bit too coarse and flippant for my students.

Update: I think the introduction to the book is a little too forceful. The hardest part of teaching Intro is dispelling myths about feminism in the beginning, and I think a gentle approach is needed. The rest of the book is great and I think the matter-of-fact tone is perfect. The language itself doesn’t bother me so much, it was the introductory tone that was bothersome.

Why I recommend "Seattle's Best Coffee - Cinnabon (ground)" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’m not usually into flavored coffees, but this stuff is great!

A review of "Earl Grey Lavender tea" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This tea is so good; needs no sweetening. Excellent with a bit of half & half!

Why I recommend "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7)" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

LOVED it; just finished right now at 4am. I read two spoilers purposefully – one was rubbish, the other did give much away – but my enjoyment of the book was not even slighlty diminished.

Why I recommend "Cashew Carrot Ginger soup" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I can’t even explain how good this is….
