This book will be a source of strength and
understanding for many. This is a must-read for anyone who wishes to understand what JW life is like at the darker side of the psychological spectrum. As a former JW myself, I am impressed with the strength of the writing – being a Jehovah’s Witness is not the best training in the world for insightful thinking and writing.Her story is one of judgment and liberation, and is shaped by her sense of complexity, her love of language, and a refusal, in the end, to be made powerless. She captures the irony that always bothered me so very much: that every little rule could destroy your world – and yet weighty issues couldn’t be dealt with or even questioned (especially from a female perspective). Well, well worth it!
