Absolutely brilliant!
”...if this party does not expel from its ranks all those yes-men, those blood-stained judges and prosecutors, those careerists and incompetent managers…then it will, of its own accord, have destroyed any chance it might have had to gather the progressive and creative people of this country into its ranks, to attract young people, to form a genuine left-wing movement capable of carrying out the revolutionary aims of socialist democracy. And these forces will have to gather beyond the range of the party’s influence.”
Found these familiar words:
“When we raised the question of free speech, they tell us we don’t need an opposition party. They tell us public opinion can be expressed through the mass organizations, they tell us mass organizations already worked as an opposition. But this notion is based on the faith – and faith is all it is – that the government will voluntarily take suitable actions in response to public criticism.”
The best business biography I have read thus far. Former CEO of Visa International tells the story of how VISA came into being while illustrating a whole new principle of human organization.
An engaging story casted in a rigorous theoritical framework.
This book is good to read but not worth keeping.

To be fair, the book helps readers with little knowledge of business, economics and japanese culture a good understand how DoCoMo became a major success by giving a broad brush on DoCoMo’s strategic decisions, corporate values, executive team and the market conditions in Japan.
What the book lacks are details and a lot of chapters can be shortened.
Once started, it is difficult to put down this book.
Very engaging. The book highlights the major issues in journalism. A book I would re-read again from time to time.
