Eric Lau is a upstart producer who has produced tracks for Lupe Fiasco, Snoop Dogg, Guilty Simpson and others.
His debut LP New Territories features his staple of singers crooning over some infectious jazz and hip-hop-inflicted music.
This is a nice album to spin on those warm romantic nights or when you’re just relaxing at the crib.
This disc is currently available via iTunes. Of course, it goes without saying that this collection is worthy of your attention. Cop and download, immediately!
I think Jay Loves Japan is better than his Stones Throw release, Ruff Draft.
Hot songs: “Say It,” “Uh Oh”
J Dilla (AKA Jay Dee AKA Dilla Dog) maybe gone, but his musical legacy will never be forgotten.
This is a collection of J Dilla’s noteworthy productions (remixes, rarities) with mostly Tha Pharcyde and Brand New Heavies on Delicious Vinyl Records. Most of the classics are on here - “Runnin’”, “Drop” - and their instrumentals (a great bonus).
This is a wonderful collection of J Dilla’s formative years as a producer before he started working with A Tribe Called Quest, Busta Rhymes, Erykah Badu and among others.
This set is also available on iTunes, which is really cool for iPod heads like myself. Plus, all proceeds from the sales of the collection, including downloads, will go to J Dilla’s mom, Maureen Yancey.
I will forever consume J Dilla’s music.
Rest In Power J Dilla!
We Love You!!
Cons’ album is not a bad rap album at all. In fact, it’s the most honest rap collection you’ll heard this year amongst the ghetto posturing, thuggery and bullshit that’s dominating the music today.
Black Milk’s Popular Demand is one of the best rap albums of 2007.
25 of Dave Chappelle’s best skits from his seminal comedy-sketch series Chappelle’s Show on one DVD—there is a God in heaven. Plus, the DVD features extra clips from Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories. This is a must-have for those who still miss the show.
This is the Jaylib Champion Sound—Deluxe Edition (2 CD) that is due to hit stores on June 12. The collection is available for downloading via iTunes.
Real quick . . .
Mims’ braggadocios anthem “This Is Why I’m Hot” is indeed hot. His debut album Music Is My Savoir . . . not so hot.
