A story about "Behind the Attic Wall (An Avon Camelot Book)" — 2 years ago
Behind the Attic Wall is one of a handful of books I remember reading and really enjoying when I was a kid. To find it at the library and read it again was really a treat!

An encyclopedic review of different aspects of emotional intelligence (empathy, motivation, social skills, etc.) and how each affects a person’s success in the workplace. Working with Emotional Intelligence is a good read for anyone wanting to learn more about what it is. Throughout Daniel Goldman was working to convince that there are varying capacities beyond IQ that affect people’s effectiveness. Unfortunately I already believe in the theory and sorely missed the ‘how to’ part. I guess I was hoping the “Working with..” part of “Working with Emotional Intelligence” would be more practical application and advice than dictionary.
I went about it backwards by reading the Hobbit after I completed the Fellowship of the Ring, but not alot was lost.
It was cute. Not horrible, but not that great. The pace was so slow. Meh.
I went to see The Color Purple on Broadway last week. Having never read the book or seen the movie I enjoyed the muscial very much. Because the movie was so well received I’d like to see it now as well.
I am reading Lord of the Rings during my subway commute and am 3/4 of the way through now. This is one of those books that I know I will need to read again to appreciate its dense setting. I can’t help but get the impression that it was meant to be read aloud slowly to a little kid as a bedtime story.
