WORTH CONSUMING!

I read Peggy Orensteins “Flux” and loved its well researched elegance. This was seeing a more personal side of the author that happily reminded me that even our favorite writers have demons to combat. The courage involved in writing about vulnerability made me really enjoy this book.

A story about "the big sea" — 49 weeks ago

An interesting book from a literary great, but more just a collection of stories with no driving narrative. However a couple of great bits about poetry and literature.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Wonderful idea, worthy of a whole book, but not this one. The middle section with specific country examples was a truly interesting but I had to stumble through some big generalities to get there. In short check this one out from the library and don’t be afraid to skim.

heartfelt story...didn't quite go as far as I wanted — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I loved reading this book, reminded me a lot of billie letts with “Where the Heart is”. However at times Kallos poetry and interesting writing style started to transcend the genre and become something greater, something not cute at all, but beautiful. However the ending for me was too perfect and way too pat. I can’t give it a bad review because the reading process was truly enjoyable, but I do look forward to something more from this author.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Good Book, lousy underdeveloped ending. However the characters and the plot was very compelling.

A story about "Cadillac Desert: The American West and Its Disappearing Water, Revised Edition" — 1 year ago

This was non fiction with solid hook for any of us that have lived in the west. Multifaceted and filled with new angles I had no knowledge of. Wish there was a sequel.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This was a surprisingly beautiful play. Simple plot about two characters who share a love of music. Really glad I read it.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This book was well written with an interesting plot and a truly unsatisfying ending. Do yourself a favor and pick up her other book, Good Grief, much better book.
