A story about "Ready or Not: An All-American Girl Novel" — 4 years ago
You guys. The ending? So unexpected. It avoids the usual cliche teen books fall into, and that’s the assumption that most teenagers are chaste angels.

Sort of amazing to catch up with Weetzie Bat again. Even at forty, she’s still a flake. I really liked the anima/animus idea, very interesting. This was happy and sad altogether, and definitely a different tone from past books. More mature, thank god.
Johnny Depp played a hella creepy Willy Wonka. The hair, the teeth, the white skin and what looked suspiciously like lipstick … damn. I loved how shiny and candy colored the whole movie was, it had a surreal feel to it. The Oompah Loompahs were miles better than the 70s version, less stoic and more playful.
Brilliant. One of the best movies I’ve seen this year; in fact, I saw the preview for this when I went to see Crash, another amazing movie with Terrance Howard. It was gritty and hopeful and tragic; amazing.
This is incredibly popular at work, so I figured I should read it myself so I can properly pimp it to the customers. Very, very good, as her books always are. Towards the end there was a sudden plot twist that caught me off guard, and it was written perfectly; sadly, but perfectly.
The end was different than the movie, but apparently Chuck Palahnuik prefers the movie ending to this one anyway. Otherwise, the book was really close to the movie, unusual in most adaptions. Both brilliant, of course.
Creepy and suspenseful, it held my attention. The end was utterly depressing, but I’ve come to expect that from Japanese remakes. They lack the sugar-coating that American movies always employ, and while kind of a bummer, it’s also refreshing.
I fully agree with the people who’ve said the beginning was a little off; it didn’t really feel like the usual HP book, which threw me a bit. But, I got into it pretty quickly and it was all good from then on. Thankfully, ALL CAPS HARRY was totally missing from this book, and Hagrid was also happily scarce. And the end? MY GOD!!! I knew someone would die, but the way it happened … wow. On the good side, I loved Harry and Ginny together, she’s such a smartass. I never thought I’d want them as a couple, but it was really natural and sweet.
So good! She’s such a catty, unapologetic little bitch, and I couldn’t help but admire that a little. Interestingly, this is billed as ‘fiction’, even though it’s apparently far more autobiographical than not. Which makes it even better, because it actually happened.
Very gossipy (no fake names!) & lots of fun. I finished it verrry quickly.
