WORTH CONSUMING!

This is probably the first Candace Bushnell book that doesn’t COMPLETELY DEMOLISH its characters by making them ice cold assholes. It’s much more human, much more forgiving. And it works. So, so so well. It allowed people to make mistakes and decisons that weren’t always very nice, but underneath you knew they were still decent people who had to do what needed to be done.

WORTH CONSUMING!

There was only a handful of people seeing this as well, and they all grumbled about the non-ending. But, I loved it. I love Bill Murray and think he can make even the most self-centered, ego trippin’ characters totally sympathetic and endearing. As for the end, it was just vague enough to leave some questions.

A story about "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" — 4 years ago

Oh so cheesy in many, many scenes, but it scared the hell out of me. When I was on my way home at 3am, I kept shooting glances around the parking lot, apparently waiting for demons to overtake me. I loved the way the devil spoke while he was speaking through Emily; he seemed totally amused by the situation, stopping just short of rolling his eyes whilst he taunted.

Okay, but Kinsella’s other books are much more fun. Just too forgettable and blah to even be a delicious guilty pleasure.

A story about "The Burn Journals (Ira Children's Book Awards (International Reading Association))" — 4 years ago

The disjointed writing style threw me at first, but once I got over that, it was an interesting look at life after an attempted suicide. Very realistic, he wrote down his thoughts and actions even though they rarely made him look anything but deeply self-centered and, well, human. No sugarcoating whatsoever, which is always refreshing.

HILARIOUS. I haven’t laughed so much in years. Steve Carell is just too cute, I almost forgot he played the Token Asshole in Bruce Almighty.

Another disposable suspense/thriller. I love Rachel McAdams, and Cillian Murphy is incredibly good looking, but the movie itself was sort of blah.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Strange. But good, I liked it a lot. The writing style was a little stilted sometimes, but a lot of young adult books are like that. I got over it.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is one of the very few books that I loved enough to want to buy copies for everyone I know. I related all too well to Lee, and I kept wanting to write down quotes I particularly liked. Great book.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Amusing to some extent – in a cheesey way – but mostly just cringe inducing.
