I am not what you would call a “sport’s person.” In middle school, there was a definite correlation between an increasing feeling of dread and decreasing minutes until GYM CLASS. And now, in my life as a (pseudo) adult, I don’t follow sports, with the exception of the NFL, and people close to me STILL can’t figure out how that happened.

Point is, there was no reason for me to think that I’d love this book, and I did.

Yes, there are articles about professional athletes. But there are also articles about everyday people who just happen to play sports. There are articles that made me laugh at loud and articles that made me think. There are one or two that made me dangerously close to weepy. You don’t have to like sports to like this book. You just have to like well-written prose by a thought-provoking columnist.
