“She’s not dead, she’s just wearing a bad dress.”

Beautiful, dramatic movie with humor inserted marginally through the main character (a drama film director) taking a risk and making a comedy – which blinds him. Like Almodovar’s funny dream within a bad dream. Make sure to watch the extras.

First movie that not only made me cry, but really bawl. Unexpected. I had to pause it during one scene and decide if I wanted to continue the catharsis or put in something like “Pineapple Express.”

That said, I loved it and I want to work through my crap the way Ross McElwee does, annoying the hell out of all of my loved ones.

Beautiful as only the French can do about someone paralyzed from head to toe and told from that perspective.

“If there’s any kind of god in this world, it wouldn’t be in any of us. Not you, or me, but just in this little space in between. If there’s any kind of magic in this world, it must be in the attempt of understanding someone sharing something. I know it’s almost impossible to succeed, but, who cares, really. The answer must be in the attempt.”

I’ve watched this movie many times, and I’m sure this has affected me before, but this time, I wanted to remember it.

I think I was supposed to like this movie more than I did, and maybe that’s why I didn’t really like it that much. I’ve always had a problem with authority.

Holy cow. The next time you think you’ve had a bad day, watch this movie.

I didn’t expect to get anything from this. I just ran out of options at the movie vending machine. So maybe it’s my current life situation, maybe it’s because I’m a chick, maybe it’s because I can find knowledge in almost anything these days, and maybe that’s because I’m not very smart. But this movie gave me a few things to think about. And one of those is that I’m not necessarily an exception to the rule. Oh, the wisdom of chick flicks!
