Inspired by the sight of Elderflower growing in the garden I went looking for Elderflower recipies and came across the suggestion of adding a dash of elderflower cordial to a gin and tonic. As I was drinking a G+T at the time, and had purchased a bottle of Elderflower cordial about an hour earlier I put this into immdiated effect. It was a combination destined to be. Truly scrumpticious and lovely and summery as well. I can’t imagine drinkin g G+T any other way from now on, if I have the ingrdients to hand.

A remarkable collection of short stories from a somewhat unacknowledged master of the genre. Centred on themes of death, disease and deminishment, these stories manage to treat the sheer strangeness of life, and what people do to try and cope with with a straight forward realism, comparable to Raymond Carver, that serves to highlight how the actions and lives of the characters are at once, both distinctly their own yet reminiscent of ours. Outstanding.
