A story about "Revelation Space" — 5 years ago

Excellent first novel. Gave it a good write-up and have bought more by Reynolds.

A story about "Decipher" — 5 years ago

Big-screen stuff! I’ve now made up my mind as to whether this is a novel or a compendium of extraordinary notions you only thought you knew about.

A story about "Permanence" — 5 years ago

My second Schroeder, very different from ‘Ventus’.
(‘Ventus,’ along with ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,’ were the first two books to turn the Kid on to science fiction…)

A story about "Zodiac" — 5 years ago

This may be “early” Stephenson, but I was hooked and laughing from page 2. The adventures of ecowarrior Sangamon Taylor are as frightening as they are funny.

A story about "Nanotechnology: A Gentle Introduction to the Next Big Idea" — 5 years ago

Gentle it may be, but “slowly, slowly, catchee monkey.” The Next Big Idea is a mind-bender.

A story about "Yeats' Poems" — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Just getting back into Yeats. This anthology is comprehensive, if a little bit too full of notes! Until I realised that all of your man’s poems were gathered in the first half, it gave me a hard time.

A story about "We" — 5 years ago

Lent to me by a friend who tells me I’ve missed something brilliant right up my street.
Thank you, Stuart.
(He was right.)

A story about "The Essential Guide to Computing: The Story of Information Technology" — 5 years ago

For a book so evidently destined to age swiftly, you’d think twice about laying out the full price of nearly 40 bucks (32 euros).
But this very readable overview (Aug 2000) is a welcome addition to an online bookshelf. Still as interesting for what it predicts as for its historical account.
