WORTH CONSUMING!

I had a great time following the adventure of a newly turned vampire and her prickly vampire protector. Funny and sexy, without really venturing into the land of chick lit, this was a satisfying read with a lot of great moments.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Action-packed with a really fun heroine. I’ve never read a book quite like this and I enjoyed it very much. My only complaint is that sometimes the metaphysical battles were a little hard to follow. All around great read though!

Fun and playful — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I thought this was a fun and playful take on the vampire universe. I enjoyed the voice of the protagonist and had a few laugh-out-loud moments. My only complaint is one that I have about most chick-lit: There’s no neatly tied up Happily Ever After! Still, great fun for a quick summer read.

Beautifully done — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

A beautifully told story. I enjoyed pretty much every aspect of this movie: The cinematography was beautiful, the dialog was entertaining and poignant, the symbolism was clever, and the message was powerful.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This was a fun little anthology. I especially loved Virginia Kantra’s beautiful portrayal of the faery kingdom and MaryJanice Davidson’s hilarious were-vamp match. Fun read, but be prepared for a huge cross-section of styles!

A review of "Raintree: Inferno (Nocturne)" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Exciting, sexy, and entertaining! I loved both of the main characters and the world that’s been created for this series. It’s intriguing and well done.

My only complaint is that there is a HUGE cliff-hanger at the end. I prefer my books neatly wrapped up, even if they are intended to be a series.

Interesting, but nothing to apply. — 2 years ago

When I picked up this book, I was hoping by the end that I would be better equipped to make those “thinking without thinking” sort of judgments more reliably. While there was a lot of interesting and thought provoking stuff in the book, I felt like I missed the “meat” I was after, in that there was no lesson in how to apply everything. Mostly, the book just prompted me to look further into other research, which Gladwell summarized in the book.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I know I can always count on Liz Carlyle for LOTS of sexual tension but nice and satisfying, ahem, resolutions. Great, exciting read. Can’t wait to read her more recent stuff!

Why I gave up consuming "Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell" — 2 years ago

Much too long. I read in short spurts and it was just too much effort to get back into this every time. I’m passing it along to someone who, hopefully, will enjoy it more. Someday when I have lots of spare time, I’ll try it again!

A story about "An Inconvenient Truth" — 2 years ago

I had to marinate on An Inconvenient Truth for a while. At first, I was pretty sure I liked it. I mean, everyone likes Power Point, right? And, I admit it, I really like Al Gore. I voted for him. And global warming has been kind of a pet thing of mine since I was a wee thing living in tree-huggery Southern California. So the movie got me pretty fired up and rah rah about saving the planet and stuff.

But then I went to the website (http://www.climatecrisis.net), hoping to find suggestions for how I, as the average joe consumer, might be able to help save the planet. Know what I found? Here are the ways you can help the planet:

1. Contribute money to Al Gore’s alternative energy co-op.
2. If you don’t contribute money to Al Gore’s alternative energy co-op, you are a Commie earth-hating sunuvawho. Or worse, a Republican.

And I am now disillusioned. Was that entire stirring movie just more political propaganda to get me to give a rich politician my money? Because that sucks. And hurts my heart a little.

What do you think? Is Al Gore just a guy who’s been a politician for so long that he can’t stop being a politician even long enough to make a movie, supposedly about global warming? Am I blowing this whole thing out of proportion? I dunno, it all ads up and I don’t like the answer I’m getting.
