Better than Da Vinci — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Yay for another great book by Dan Brown! I finished Angel and Demons just last night, and I think that it is absolutely amazing. It is better than Da Vinci Code! Again, the plot is brilliant. In Angel and Demons, Dan Brown explores topics like the thousand-years conflict between science and religion. I love how Dan Brown’s books got me thinking. The plot is very similar to Da Vinci Code. The characters are similar too. A hot-headed girl who makes all the decisions and expect Langdon to follow them, a demanding officer who doesn’t trust the pair, a crippled friend who is the enemy is disguse… I thought I knew the ending, but no! It totally captured me by surprise. The supposed villian turned out to be someone else! But you get the idea that the mastermind villian is just around you, betraying your trust.

Again, in this book, there are many witty conversations that are sure to make you laugh. There is one thing — the book contains sexual elements, although minimal, but it got me aroused! Near the ending, I also felt tears coming to my eyes because it was very touching.

The whole story happens in Rome for a day. From the starting of the story to the ending. It all happened in a day. 24 hours! That’s right, 600 pages in a 24 hour. It brings us to Switzerland, then to Rome, the Vatican city. It shows us places, hidden scientific symbols amongst a city of religion. It talks about the secret society, Illuminati, and shows us how they manage to get the word “illuminati,” “fire,” “earth,” “water,” and “air” written symmetrically. Sounds impossible doesn’t it? It’s sheer genius.

Dan Brown is briliant — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I love this book, although i am hesistant about its “facts.” Dan Brown is an amazing fiction writer, and I love his little puzzles in the book, and how it seems so realistic. His puzzles are so obvious, so surface-like, and linked to history, and yet very challenging. The puzzle involving Newton is my favorite. Dan Brown made this book seems real, he made people into believing it is non-fiction (I regret for believing it was factual too), and that is the brillance of his storytelling.

This book is definitely worth reading. It is a real page turner, and it got me addicted. I didn’t slept a whole night because I was reading it despite my tiredness which was really killing me. Many critics commented that this book thwarted history in the most impossible method. There ARE some truth in the book, such as the Star of David, the PHI, and the origins of playing cards. I am unsure about the whole intimate affliation between Mary Magdalene and Jesus, the veracity of Priory of Scion, and the whole thing with Newton Issac and other popular figures being part of the society mentioned in the book. I think I belong to the skeptic wing. However, it was a beautiful read, and I love how Dan Brown managed to pull together popular figures, Da Vinci’s arts, eminent places, and coalesced them with secrets and puzzles that he made up. And that, i give him credit, and i recommend everyone to read this book.
