Why I recommend "Veil of Roses" — 2 years ago
It’s a very moving story.

I first bought this book at an old bookstore when I was looking for novels by Georgette Heyer. I had read online that her works could be compared to Jane Austen’s, so I had to investigate. I had my misgivings about a book labeled as regency romance; however, I was pleasantly suprised. This book is hilarious! I was constantly laughing or smiling. While Austen provides small touches of humor, Heyer adroitly spreads it all throughout the novel.
This book was a disappointment. It’s a very good idea, but the author didn’t do that much with it. I felt like he was making fun of the characters and the book in general. There were several crude parts that were so stupid I felt like rolling my eyes. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies wasn’t engaging, entertaining, or even that funny. Either the author was being very lazy, or he just didn’t understand Pride and Prejudice. I hope the movie, if it’s still being made, will be a lot better.
