Why I recommend "Tithe: A Modern Faerie Tale" — 2 years ago
If you like books with a dark edge and enough detail to make the writting beautiful but not boring, then this is it.
This book gives a whole new meaning to the word “faerie tale”. It’s dark, suspenseful, and the LAST image that came to mind after reading this was of a winged creature sitting in a flower with a rainbow behind it.
The faerie world has unnervingly similar pannels to the “real” one, where good is not good, and evil is not evil. Everything is grey, but in lighter and darker shades. It’s real. It’s not all fluffy “tra-la-la”, hero gets the princess whatever garbadge. It’s full of hidden meanings, secret truths, and a wondrous blend of horror and romance.
This book (and it’s “sequel”, Valiant) are simply breathtaking.
I am DYING for the final installment of this series, Ironside, which is coming out in May.
Expect a nice long review for it come June (at latest) :D
