A story about "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee: An Indian History of the American West" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The book covers the different tribes/nations and each one’s story. In the end, apart the details, each story is the same. It comes down to lies, broken promises and exploitation by the whites.

As I said before, it can be hard to follow at times with all the locations names and the moving around the American Indians were forced to do. A map of the period for the concerned areas would have been very helpful in understanding the events.

A story about "The Joy of Sex" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I don’t remember how old I was, maybe 8-10. I found this by accident in my parents’ room. And of course, I borrowed it. I looked more at the pictures (drawings actually) than the words. But after a while, I started reading it. I was eventually caught, though. My parents hid it and I never found it again.

A story about "Iron Chef" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Having quit my job before coming to France in 2000, I was unemployed for about 2 months. I spent a large majority of that time watching the Travel Channel and the Food Network. The Iron Chef became a regularly viewed program.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I love experiments like this. It was interesting to see to what extent damage was done.

A story about the last time I consumed "Head Cheese" — 3 years ago

Lunch at friends’ this afternoon. Of the many dishes prepared (my friend is one of the greatest cooks I know) he made head cheese. I’ve had it before, and while this was good, I just don’t really care for it and would never search it out. It’s basically the jelly part I don’t like. Anyway, I’m leaving this as wishy-washy.

A story about "Utopia (Penguin Classics)" — 3 years ago

Technically, I’m not reading the Penguin Classics edition. I’m reading this with the help of Daily Lit. It’s a nice way to read a book when you think you don’t have the time. I’m currently on part 5 of 35.

A story about "Before the Frost: A Linda Wallander Mystery" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I really enjoyed the tone and writing style. The style is very easy to read. But the tone of the characters is very interesting as an American with Swedish heritage. You really pick up on the Swedish temperment. And while I did get this sense reading it on my own, it was confirmed by my Swedish friend, who also lent me the book in the first place.
