A story about "The Healing Time of Hickeys" — 8 years ago
Hilarious. Definitely one of the better books in the silly teen diary genre.

Fabulous story, great ideas, wonderful imagery… too many freaking words. Seriously. I don’t mind the 400 pages; I actually picked it up because I loved her Beauty and I wanted a long fairy tale, but there were just pages and pages of description that I just flipped past. Has anyone read a selection of her books? Is something that became more pronounced later in her writing, is a pattern that is in most of her pieces?
I love the bargain selection at my bookstore; I think this completes my collection of Dessen books. Her books are predictable, but in the best way that means you know you’ll be satisfied by the end.
I grabbed this book on a whim while picking up a few others, and I’m glad I did. Especially since I found myself in the mood to read some romantic YA chick lit. I liked Emily and Charlie, but never really found that any of the characters got fleshed out enough. I can’t see myself picking this up again, but I’d happily recommend it among this genre for a light read.
Any book in which the main character thinks that if she doesn’t get accepted into the college of her choice should become a crack cooker because they always need good chemists is a good book in my mind.
Do you know how weird it is to be in the middle of a book and realize that fifteen years ago you read a book by the same author with the same main character, except for at the time he wasn’t the main character? No? It’s freaking distracting. I much preferred Someday Angeline (Mr. Bone!), but like all of Sachar’s books, this one has good heart and good storytelling.
A good read, and a nice change of (boy) pace into this genre. Especially to see that the fat kid doesn’t suddenly fix himself by trying to be skinny.
Dissapointing, but readable. Some great laugh out loud moments, and I’ll keep on buying them from the sale piles, but not as good sick comfort food as before.
Recommended as good gay lit. The first half was slow, but the second half was extraordinarily compelling. I have Define “Normal” by her, and I’ll definitely be checking out Luna when it’s cheap.
