A story about "The Smiling School for Calvinists" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Be warned some of this is written in dialect! It’s probably ok if you know the area, as I do but I could imagine it being quite difficult otherwise.

Crazy — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is one crazy film, but if you keep with it, it is worth it

London Film Festival — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was lucky enough to see this at the LFF, and it is well worth trying to catch at your local pictures.

The intertwining stories are all intriguing as they crash into one another with an ‘oh, that was what they were all about!!’

Concentrate! — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It takes some concentration to keep up with the concepts in the story but it is beautifully written and extremely engrossing, as well as including pictures where they are required by the story.

Well worth the read and highly recommended.

1991 all over again — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I liked this, mainly because it was a Coupland classic, also because I am at the perfect age to empathise with the characters. But I kept pulling myself up short realising that this was written over 15 years ago, when I was still a nipper! It’s scary what hasn’t changed. I was thinking of it all in a 2007 context and then something would make me realise that this is older than that – like Andy remembering Vietnam or a microwave being the height of technology!

This is certainly not a slight on a good book, well written and still extremely relevant to twenty-somethings!

Intense! — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I went to see a screening of this last night, attended by the stars of the film, Sienna Miller and Steve Buscemi.

It’s well worth a watch – very intense and the way it makes you keep switvhing allegance between the characters is great.

Hard work but worth it — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I enjoyed this, the concept probably more than the story but it was interesting.

Unfortunately, the long unpunctuated paragraphs made it quite hard work to get through.

Overall, though worth a read. Maybe even more so the original Portuguese version.

A story of a librarian — 6 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This 90 minute monologue given by Richard Schiff is lighting up London’s west end for only a short time this year.

It is the lovely story of a dutch librarian who seeks to find the owner of a 113 year late book which is returned. This leads to a world of adventures and funny anecdotes – plus some very serious conclusions on spirituality and mythology.

Richard Schiff is great as the slightly shy librarian, and the play is well put together – you never even consider the fact that it’s just one man talking at you! Recommended for a good night out

Not the best I've read — 6 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Having read most Pratchett books I found this one a bit dull. I just couldn’t get into it and it didn’t make me chuckle like they usually do. That said, it did the job that I expect from a Discworld novel.

Interesting Read — 6 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book was a really interesting read, covering a range of issues and topics. It is food for thought and provides plenty of avenues for further reading.

It should be taken with a pinch of salt as it is now slightly out of date – this does add to the interest though, and probably helps to back up some of the theories!
