WORTH CONSUMING!

I just saw this movie at a free screening in DC, the theatre was packed. This is one clever film, with great cinematography, a wondrous soundtrack by Phillip Glass and solid acting. A couple of things that threw me, the music sounded “warped” as if it were from an old LP, but that added to the film whether it was intentional or not and midway through the movie, you could see the boom mic at the top of the screen. Not good.

Go see this movie. I loved it.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Inflamatory, one sided documentary with few supporting “experts” and poor quality clips that look like they were taken from YouTube. This documentary was BAD.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Al Gore has his facts together and presents them in a fluid and visually stimulating manner. Very frightening, go see this film!

...and kind of dumb, but I was entertained. The guy that plays Larry…horrible actor. Really, really bad. But a fun movie.

WORTH CONSUMING!

For a Ron Howard film, it’s mediocre. Aside from that it’s not a terrible film, it’s just not great. The premature backlash to the film is part political, part overhype let down. The film sticks mainly true to the book and many of the characters, from Teabing to Captain Fache to Bishop Aringarosa were well cast. Audrey Tautou is limp in this, Hanks’ hair is horrid, Silas’ blue contacts are obnoxious and the syrupy melodrama taking place in flashback scenes were too much. Those are my main complaints. Other than that, go see it.

WORTH CONSUMING!

The documentary had a hard time deciding what it really wanted to be. Instead of laying down a hard thesis on why we fight, it was a straggling mess of ideas and possibilities. Why do we fight? You won’t really see a cohesive message until the end of the movie, which pulls the mess of the movie together by it’s ears.

Great book in the end. I thought it dragged a little in the begining, but all in all, great.

This book is amazing. Funny, intense, technical. Read it.
