A story about "Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge McDuck: His Life and Times"

Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge McDuck: His Life and Times

by Carl Barks

Until now, I’ve tended to stay away from the funny animal genre of comics outside of, say, Tony Millionaire’s Maakies. Who would’ve thought that a Disney funnybook would get as much critical acclaim as The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, by Don Rosa (NOT this title, which is a collection of old Scrooge comics by Carl Barks)? Within a couple of weeks, it was touted as a masterpiece of the medium by two podcasting comics critics (and I’m not aware of more than two – Augie de Bliek and Bill Jourdain, namely). This raised an eyebrow, so when I came across this title in my school’s library (one of the perks of going to art school) I thought maybe I should get some background on the genre and the character – What I know now is limited to the Duck Tales TV show and movie.
