still relevant

Northern Exposure - The Complete First Season

by Matt Nodella

This is perhaps one of the most beautiful, funny, enlightening shows ever created. I ordered season one on a whim, after joining Columbia House. I just finally sat down and watched all 8 episodes… I want more & more. It may have started back in 92 or 93 if I remember correctly, but it’s still great. The tension between Dr. Fleischmann and O’Connell.. classic. And it still makes me want to move to Alaska, which is almost impossible. Absolutely worth you re-considering this series old series.

A story about "The Office - Season Two"

The Office - Season Two

I know people are all blah blah blah “original uk office” but I think the american version has come into it’s own right. I think this may be the hands-down best comedy series ever. Screw Seinfeld, screw Friends. This is it. I am not even exaggerating. And you NEED to watch the blooper reel on Disc 4. And watch all the deleted/extended scenes, they are almost better than the original episodes. If The Office were ever to die, I would die without it. I am suffering from asphyxiation with it on it’s holiday hiatus the way that it is…

A story about "The Last Kiss"

The Last Kiss

by Original Soundtrack

The first time I listened to this cd, I drew a bath and contemplated taking my razor to my wrists. De-press-ing. But it’s grown on me now and not all of the songs are that sad. Okay, a lot of them still are, but I’m thinking it will make a good SADD winter emo cd.

Guilty pleasure

It’s more a driving around in your car cd that you hide when other people get in so that they don’t know you have it.

Why I want to consume "Love Arcade"

Love Arcade

by Love Arcade

I first saw Love Arcade at Summerfest in Milwaukee, 2006. In a sea of crappy cover bands, these guy’s amazing energy drew people of all kinds in—old/young, black/white, etc, etc. They have a very unique spunk and are just plain FUN. I finally got the cd in the mail today after pre-ordering it forever ago from Amazon—and I am head over heels in love with it. They deserve to make it big.

See their myspace for song samples: www.myspace.com/lovearcade

Why I recommend "whitechocolatespaceegg"

whitechocolatespaceegg

by Liz Phair

First time I heard this cd, I was all “eh” except for Polyester Bride, the perfect independent girl’s anthem, and Baby Got Going. Then I listened to it again and again and it grew on me, and owning all of Liz’s albums, I actually think this is the best. The deepest lyrics, most varying in music style—it’s rocky, it’s ballady, it’s jumping. Liz’s earlier voice is sort of an acquired taste (she’s definitely matured her way into her new-found poppish sound), but once I got used to it, I think I actually prefer her more raw, unique voice. REALLY listen to it before you bury it among your other cds—I let it lie around for four years before I fell in love with it, and I regret waiting so long.

if you're into that soggy chicken thing (rated 4 stars)

KFC Famous Bowls

by KFC

I’m not really a fan of fried chicken, and since I live aways from a KFC, it sat for about 15 minutes before I could dig in and yep… soggy chicken breading. Still good, very filling, but I think I’d like it better if I made it myself at home (it’s a pretty simple formula) and used grilled chicken. Plus, checking the nutrition stats, it has 600-some calories and 31 grams of fat.
