Not great literature or anything, but I enjoyed it. It certainly offers a sneak peak into the world of shopping-tv. I found the rampant materialism portrayed in the book alarming. I liked the ending.

I got to page 33 before I had to give up. I found the protagonist’s thought process numbing. I had trouble following the story, and the book left a bad taste in my mouth. This is my first foray into John Updike’s writing and I’m not sure I’ll go back. Not my cup of tea.
