One of my top all-time favorite reads — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I wish I had the courage to take off like this guy did with nothing but the clothes on my back and the change in my pocket.

Now, dying out in the wilderness like that wouldn’t be so cool.

Surprisingly thorough considering he used a pseudonym the entire time he was on the road, and of course, you can’t go wrong with Krakauer.

Unfortunately, have to give it a thumbs down — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I think the advice is solid…

But there was too much focus for my taste on ‘ra-ra’ activities and “I have all the answers so listen to me” in this.

I may be a person (aren’t we all?) who thinks I have all the answers.

But I also know maybe 80% of the time I don’t… and need to look outside myself and keep that in perspective.

I’ve met guys like the author, who will spend a long weekend reading a brand new book on how-to do business, and think that it’s the solution to all your problems.

That’s rarely the case, but the sentiment is nice.

A story about "The Pragmatic Programmer: From Journeyman to Master" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Should be required reading in CS programs and devteams alike.

80/20 - a good principle to keep in mind — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I agree with Kraig’s review, it does need more concrete examples.

However, it’s also just simply good advice to keep in mind the principle when you feel that you are not maximizing _ (whatever). i.e. your time, revenues, etc.

Why I recommend "The Perfect Store: Inside eBay" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

One of the best ‘startup story’ books ever written—perhaps only if for the tale and story of its founders, early employees, Powersellers, and consumers who have benefited from the birth and growth of eBay.

I would love to meet the man behind eBay someday. He sounds like the kind of guy that truly has not been changed by success.

... simply put, a must read for any aspiring entrepreneur!!!
