I love almost everything Neil Gaiman, but I didn’t enjoy this as much as Smoke and Mirrors. There were many good stories, but a handful that I could’ve done without. I’m not saying this isn’t worth reading… I just wish my expectations had been slightly lower. Sunbird was the highlight, in my opinion.
I read this book a dozen times, I’m sure, when I was younger. It is marketed for young adults but contains some pretty heavy themes. I’ve always thought of this book as quite the eye opener.
I read this book when I was much younger and I had completely forgot about it until I saw it on a list here. This book was a big deal to me when I read it and I’m glad that I remembered loving it so much. I’d love to find another copy, as mine seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle.
It’s available year-round, but I love to get it around the holidays mostly because of the red sprinkles. <3
It’s always interesting to watch older movies that have been condemned and think about how they would be received had they been made in modern times. This movie is pretty tame according to 2007 standards, but was considered to be filth when it was released.
Aside from all the controversy, the acting in this movie is awesome.
Fleetwood Mac is my favorite band ever. I don’t know what it is about this album, but it is my favorite by far. “Straight Back” is so highly underrated. What a beautiful Stevie song.
This is so much more than an angry girl album. It is fantastic. When I listen to it, I don’t care if Courtney Love has gone crazy and back dozens of times in the last few years. I don’t care if Kurt Cobain wrote these songs or not. I don’t care if the crazys out there think it was even remotely possible for Courtney to kill the beautiful Kristen Pfaff. All I care about is the music, and how much it has meant to me as I have grown up.
And, I swear, if I wil to be 192 I will STILL get chills down my spine when Courtney sings, “Nowwwww sheeeeee’s miiiiiine” at the end of “Jennifer’s Body.” So. Perfect.
It would be worth consuming but I have nightmares about this movie constantly. Several times a month, in fact. I wouldn’t say it was worth the sleep loss.
I get the feeling that everyone involved in making this was trying entirely too hard to make a movie that was “out there.” Painful to watch.
