My all consuming summary of January, 2008 — 1 year ago

So went away to the Dominican republic – sun, sea, palm trees and long days reading! Always difficult as I had to pack 8 books -one per day and one extra just in case!
Best ones were Foiled Again, laugh out loud funny and Severed, definitely not funny!.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Excellent book and very unusual story. Interestingly when you read about the author she is an older woman who practices yogis medictation and transcendental flying every day! Very good story well worth a read.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I love books that when you are reading them they start out all normal and then something from extremely far left of field comes in and hits you. A bit like the film dawn to dusk – a normal thriller and then ‘bam’ vampires!

On a similar theme with regards to getting weirdness in but a very complex and satisfying story that leaves you thinking about it’s complexities and ramifications. Very clever and I don’t want to say too much otherwise I will give it away. Well worth a read!

WORTH CONSUMING!

Yes I know – odd choice, However am additcted to cartoon which I watch with my children. The problem is that we missed the first few so just did not know how they got the heart of meridean! Gave the book to my son to read but he was too slow to tell me so hoicked it off and read it myself. Do you know how embarrassing it is to be on the train reading a kids book!

Why I recommend "The Ice Queen: A Novel" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It is rare to find a book that hits you at a point to make you feel emotional. I read the end of this with my two boys watching Sinbad and was sincerely hoping that they did not look at me as I hit a key point point. An amazing story unlike the normal run of the mill stuff.

WORTH CONSUMING!

The book is excellent and incredibly poorly served by its title, its description page and the book cover. It has obviosuly tried to aim for the genre of modern female novel and that audience. However the actual story is so much better than that and does not relate to the cover blurb at all.

The premise if of a family who create false papers for people and the fallout from that when people begin to suspect and find out. There is an element of slapstick and attempt to put in relations etc and these are sympathetically done. The denouement and ending is very good and one I did not predict. All in all go for it and close your eyes to the cover.

Why I recommend "Whatever Love Means" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Have just finished and am stunned at the book. The ending is so different from what the book appears to be at the beginning and is so tragic yet not in an obvious read it forget it kind of way. This is the kind of book that my mind will always be going back to at key points. Wow
