A question I have about "The Razor's Edge" — 3 years ago
Does anyone else think that Gene Tierney looks like the result of Carolyn Murphy and Kate Moss having a baby?

Well, after seeing it like 4 times in the theater, I was actually surprised that this time around, it kind of got old. I was scared to watch the uncorked version, but as it turns out, the extra footage is all pretty tame, and funny stuff too. I think they just chopped it because the movie ran long.
Ok, it was total melodrama, but it didn’t devolve into the bathetic, which I guess is something. I could have done without the creepy “spiritualist” healing sequence. And why does Sean Bean have to be the villain all the time. Doesn’t he get bored playing them?
I felt like this was just like the movie…I wanted it to be fantastic, and it’s not really. The real Bowie songs are always a pleasure to rock out to in the car. The covers by seu jorge, for some reason I thought were a lot more awesome in the movie. Maybe because it was such a terrific whimsical poetic gesture. Frankly I’m undecided.
I’m amazed at the impact such a short book can deliver. I can’t wait to see the movie version. What is it with my micro-trend of frenchie girls living in japan? Apparently I love it and haven’t reached the satiation point yet!
Do yourself a favor and see this movie!!!!
Ok, confession, this was in my netflix queue, but then someone brought it home the other night. I only watched liket the last 3 or 4 chapters. It was good, but I got the feeling that I really didn’t need to watch more.
Funny, but more of the humor relies on sexuality and mean-spiritedness than in the other seasons.
Lethem is a good writer, but his pop-cultural obsessions aren’t mine, and they don’t particularly interest me. It was interesting to be reminded that other people’s parents aren’t necessarily like mine. For good and bad.
I was very proud of this movie for not coping out in the end. Really liked it, but I love Judy Davis.
