Go out and watch this right now! It takes the usual police thriller and tosses it up a bit. The lead is amazing to watch. I strongly recommend it, but can’t say more because I don’t wanna spoil it.

This is a deft character study, and the film the likes of which we don’t get to see much of. I’d give it an A if it weren’t for the ending which I think is too unclear and absolutely ruins what up until then was a terrific film.
This is definitely Enron Lite, which is not a criticism. Whenever people start talking about Energy futures, etc, my eyes glaze over. Gave a broad outline of one of the most tragic crimes of our recent time.
Like the other reviewer said, it’s a bit hard to get into in the beginning, but the velocity of the story increases as you continue. By the time I finished, I was glad that I had. It’s a very moving story.
It’s a good film, but I’m glad I waited for the dvd. And I’m sorry but Matteo is hot, even if he is messed up. They always are!
For me, this movie is like comfort food. A pure pleasure and delight. And fabulously wasp-y clothes.
I am totally in love with Jean Gabin. It’s official.
In a world where humor now has devolved to cynicism and cruel irony, it’s really refreshing to read Woody’s delightfully nebbishy humour. I love how he takes simple life situations (the heimlich manouver, a weekly poker game) and infuses them with impressive intellectual references that never come off as posturing. There is an ease and joy that I tremendously enjoy in his humor.
I saw this on the new fiction shelf at my local library and decided to take a chance. I am now in love with Mr. John Crowley. His ability to evoke the language of the Napoleonic/Regency era is not to be believed. He may be the only author on earth able to get me to read science fiction.
In the final analysis, this is just the fleshed out story of the proper identification of a lost masterpiece. It’s amazing how the author was able to imbue this fairly simple tale of rediscovery with page-turning interest.
