This album has all the songs you recognize as being Destiny’s Child that aren’t the MEGA hits like Independent Women, Bootylicious, etc.

What I want to know is…how did Beyonce’s family bamboozle 3 or 4 girls (the number was constantly changing) into being in a “group” that wouldn’t let them sing the lead on songs. You can be in this group but only if you hum in the background.

WORTH CONSUMING!

If you’re a fan of Pillow Talk...this one is of the same ilk, but a bit more “adult”, as they said in the ‘60s…and Tony Randall has a much more substantial part. I usually can’t really stand Kim Novak, but in this she was tolerable. The major stars of this one were the fabulous Manhattan Apartment which was decorated to the hilt in the style of the times, and James Garner. Damn, he fine!

Woody the Actor RUINED this movie. — 3 years ago

What a fun premise and great looking lead players (despite every attempt of the Wardrobe Department to make Scarlett look as dumpy as possible.) “Sir” Hugh’s Diesel Jeans were never so well worn! But the title of my review pretty much says it all. If you absolutely must see this movie, wait for DVD and zish through all the parts with Woody Allen.

And before I get flamed, I have very much enjoyed Woody’s comedy in the past. He just needs to recuse himself from further acting duties.

For Anyone Who Has A Family... — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

A very tender movie that we all can relate to. I don’t want to tell you about the plot, because it’s wonderful to see how it unexpectedly develops. The best movie I’ve seen in a theater in a very very long time. You owe it to yourself to go see this movie. I promise you will laugh and cry and feel warm and fuzzy all over.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Finally got it on DVD, and it was enjoyable as I had hoped, however I do have a couple complaints…How do you assemble such a fantastic ensemble and spend the majority of the time ignoring them? Did Greg Wise even have a line? Jeremy Northam had like 2…and I could have done with more Gillian Anderson, and more Keely Hawes (that wasn’t labor pain induced screaming).

I really enjoyed the post-modern style of the storytelling, but could have done with a lot less of the behind the scenes stuff and more having to do with the actual novel story…Steve Coogan was funny when he had stuff to do (like with the chestnut or the life size womb)...but otherwise wasn’t very entertaining.

Take a wild guess about me and what demographic I fit into! I am such a living cliche, sometimes it’s painful.

Ok, did anyone else find it kind of funny that Sirs Richard Burton and ROGER MOORE were playing special forces/black ops commandos? They seemed so miscast for the parts.

A review of "Dan Aykroyd Unplugged on UFOs" — 3 years ago

I believe that there is alien life out there…I have a hard time believing that they’re out to get us…or that people are being abducted and anally probed…Still, if you’re an Aykroyd fan, it’s interesting to hear him just rattle off the cases and scientists and experts…Aaahhhh, the effects of Asperger’s Syndrome.

A review of "Loose" — 3 years ago

This isn’t a good record, but it’s not an awful one either. The main single Promiscuous and maybe one or two other songs are pretty good. Surprisingly, the accolades, if any for this album, go to Timbaland. His production is modern and asymetrical, if still gimmicky….and probably not any different from what say Jermaine Dupri or some other producer would come up with.

I was really saddened by how generic and uninspired Furtado’s lyrics were. I actually remember hearing her say (I guess in reference to her first album) that she wanted to write less metaphorical lyrics…Well maybe she got feedback that her lyrics were so metaphorical as to be obscure, but that was never a criticism of mine regarding the first album. In fact, I think that’s what gave it it’s offbeat charm and her a unique musical identity. That and the use of a variety of instruments. In this case I find her lyrics and grammar…”you aint never heard that” to be dumbed down. You’re better than that Nelly.

I realize that artists don’t want to repeat themselves, and I applaud the intent to take her music in a different direction, but in the end, I think she misguidedlly went away from the essence of her previous work…twards a more pop-y ethos. And I can’t for the life of me figure out why when all the pop now a days is so indistinguishable.
