A story about "Melinda and Melinda" — 4 years ago
I’m telling you do not waste your time. It was awful.
I'm currently reading 13 books, listening to 4 albums, watching 0 movies, eating and drinking 0 food items, and consuming 0 other things.
saucybetty hasn't consumed anything recently.

The refreshing thing about this series is that it’s not vulgar, and Gerri doesn’t cut other people down when she easily could.
The author literally lived through every woman’s worst nightmare in real life: my boyfriend dumped me for a famous model. This book is the product. It’s stylized for sure, there is a definite rhythm to the language and frankly not really any plot. Apparently a huge hit in France, even eclipsing the DaVinci Code on the best seller lists…this book will have appeal for some, but not everyone. I kinda liked it. And I would read it over the DaVinci Code, which I have studiously avoided, anyway.
When I went to look for this book at the library, I almost missed it, because it was so small. It wasn’t the worst book I’d ever read, but I’d find myself having read 5 pages and thinking…what the hell did I miss…and frankly it really didn’t matter. It gets into esoterica that frankly I just don’t care about. But it’s intelligently designed.
I consumed this back when it first came out. Back then, chick lit wasnt’ the unimaginative cash cow it’s become. It was fresh and funny and resonated with where I was.
All I remember from reading this is that apparently Steve Martin is a boob man.
Rushdie’s lexicon and syntax are a marvel, and this is a prime example.
I actually haven’t completed this. I’ve had about 80 pages to go for about 2.5 years. Chabon is one of our best contemporary american writers. There is no doubt he is talented, but in the end, the story and the characters were for me, uncompelling.
