I’m home sick today, feeling pretty crappy. My friend (who has an 18 month old son) told me that I should watch The Backyardigans. She doesn’t let the little guy watch much TV, but apparently this is one of the few shows he gets to watch. So I found it on the cable’s on-demand, and ohmygosh, it’s completely adorable. The songs are so catchy. I think I’ll have the surf moves song stuck in my head for a long time.

So, yeah. Totally recommended viewing for when you’re sick at home and trying your best to avoid watching Maury Povich or Dr. Phil.

Did anyone else notice that when Jenna (Jacinda Barrett) was screaming at Michael (Zach Braff), she totally switched into an Australian accent? She’s from Australia in real life, so it makes sense—but doesn’t make sense within the context of the film, since it’s pretty obvious her parents are American. It stuck out like a sore thumb to me.

I liked the movie, but not as much as I expected. Great soundtrack though.

I don’t think I can really sum up my feelings toward this book without sounding too sappy, so I’ll just say this: it’s a beautiful, emotional story, like nothing else I’ve ever read.
