WORTH CONSUMING!

This vinyl is essentially the single track “Love Generation”. It fantastic. I haven’t rated this 5 because of the relatively boring b-side remix of Love Generation by Mugwump. Not so impressive. But get this just for the a-side. Top.

…only 3 stars from me. The album just didn’t gel with me like I expected it to. I haven’t listened to any of Isobel Campbell’s music outside of B&S, and I guess I was perhaps expecting something different.

The music coupled with Mark Lanegans vocals struck me as very Nick Cave-esque. It could have just been because they have similar voices.

Anyway, I didn’t find anything particularly exciting about this album. I’m going to listen to it a couple more time though, to give it a fair go. I really do want to enjoy Isobels music.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Got this out yesterday (I also hired The Experiment and Ripleys Game – so they’ll be watched soon).

This movie is fantastic. I don’t believe I’ve ever laughed at a single movie so much. It was the cheesy lines, and ridiculous stereotypes that made me laugh. There is some mighty impressive fighting (as you’d expect), and some astounding special effects.

Anyway, I really enjoyed this – and recommend it to all. I wouldn’t say it’s a good introductory movie to the martial arts genre (because of the westernised cheesy-ness – it might give you the wrong impression for the rest of the genre), but if you’re into that scene it’s great.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I’m always quite a fan of the Sugababes singles, but can’t listen to a whole album. I find their album tracks mostly a little r’n’b for me.

A review of "Morningwood" — 7 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I really enjoy rock bands fronted by women (eg, elastica, garbage, veruca salt), but have only really listened to british chick rock, not really american. I understand Morningwood come from New York, they are a 4 piece rock band with a female singer.

My favourite 2 tracks off this album are “Nth Degree” – which is the single I heard on Juice here (one of our MTV-type channels) and “Jetsetter”.

The music has a very new wave and punk type feel about it – which kind of explains why I like it so much. Also, Nth Degree (for me at least) has a similar feel to some of the Saint Etienne tracks off Good Humor.

Anyway, I’m super impressed by these guys. I hope they get the airplay they deserve.

Peter Jackson before he was famous (outside New Zealand anyway). Splatterfest. hehehe

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’m not usually a fan of hip-hop, but I really did quite enjoy this album. My favourite track is actually the Diamonds From Sierra Leone Bonus Track. The sort of hip-hop I usually enjoy is things like Mos Def, and Roots Manuva, but I do rate Kanye West.

WORTH CONSUMING!

One of my friends was in this :-) She was in the front row in the typing class scene. She also tells me she had a line, but it ended up on the cutting room floor

WORTH CONSUMING!

I really enjoyed this book. I read it in 2 sittings tho. It’s a really easy read. Took me about 2 hours, and the first hour of that I was real tired.

On the copy that I have (or at least I borrowed) it has a tagline from The Guardian that I think is very fitting, and I’ll unashamedly use it…

A funny as well as sad book

WORTH CONSUMING!

Steve (from Sarah and Steve fame if you know me or them) recommended a whole stack of Led Zep to me (which is why I’m consuming so much at the moment). This album really impressed me.
