Why I recommend "Ghost Dog - The Way of the Samurai" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This movie is amazing. Brilliant soundtrack by RZA of Wu-Tang fame, some beautiful camera shots, and a compelling story. I love how Jarmusch has crossed over Samurai code to mafia hit men, and how he shows the dedication that Ghost Dog has for his art, belief structure and warrior code.

I really enjoyed it.

Why I recommend "Confessions on a Dance Floor" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was pleasantly surprised by this album. I quite liked it – and it’s unusual for me to enjoy an entire album of Madonna. There you go.

Why I recommend "Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Interesting book. I was quite impressed with the way that the authors managed to present economic concepts with examples and language that are very laymen friendly. I was also impressed with the analysis that Steven Levitt had performed into reasons for dropping crime – I generally like stories of people busting conventional theories, and finding new ways to explain things. Anyway – good book. I recommend it.

Why I gave up consuming "Punch-Drunk Love (Two Disc Special Edition) (Superbit Collection)" — 3 years ago

Because I’ve got the 1 disc version out, not the 2 disc :-)

Why I gave up consuming "Don Juan (The Collected Works of Ludwig Lewisohn - 41 Volumes)" — 3 years ago

I’m just finding this book intensely boring. I’m not going to bother completing it :-( I hardly ever do that. Sorry Ludwig, I’m not a fan.

A little disappointed... — 3 years ago

I used to be a massive fan of Concord Dawn. The hard, industrial feeling dnb that they used to churn out. This album is not to my tastes. It’s alright, but it’s not great. My favourite track is Say Your Words (and only the 2nd half of it – that’s the hard type of dnb I like). I give the rest of the album a “so so” rating. Apart from Say Your Words, the other tracks I thought were OK were Breathe, Broken Eyes, Blow, Never Give Up On Love and Don’t Have To Run.

So, I’d say if you’re a fan of the older Concord Dawn, I wouldn’t recommend this album to you. If you like Shapeshifter, or that general friendlier dnb – smoother, more rolling – then I’d say give it a listen.

Why I recommend "V for Vendetta" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Good movie. Yet again, I got to go to a preview before official release in New Zealand through a guy at work (his partner is the Marketing Manager [or something] for Village Roadshow – so I often get free tix to sneak previews). I really did enjoy this. It’s got some cool special effects, I like the concept of the story (deep down I’m sure there’s a conspiracy theorist/activist in me somewhere), and of course, it’s got Natalie Portman in it.

It just didn't... — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

...connect with me. Maybe it’s a just a lifestyle and culture I don’t understand. There were bits that made me laugh, but overall I just felt a bit deflated at the end. Perhaps you could describe it as a modern day, Auckland based, pacific island love story.

I’m not going to write much about the actual movie, cause it’s not publicly released for about 10 more days or something.

Why I want to consume "Sione's wedding" — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I want to consume this because I got free tickets from work ;-)
