A review of "The Silver Kiss" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Compared to all of the Twilight mania, The Silver Kiss has a very unique sort of romance. I love the old-school vampire mythicism,
but absolutely loathed the few sappy lines that the author would sometimes add. (expecially the one that goes ..”the silver kiss..so swift and so true..” ,or something.

I recommend this because the ending is pretty ingenious and so sweet that it was – good, but not so good that you hate the author for not writing a sequel or lengthening the book.

Yes, sometimes it was hard to read her third person swapping perspective because it sometimes prevented me from becoming part of the story.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was so confused about the ending. But the book itself is hilarious. Gives me quite a lot to digest, and gives new perspective on many things. Great piece of work.

Oh, and the sequel to this “Closing Time” does not read anything like the first book. “Closing Time” was so bad that I just stopped reading it.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I enjoyed this book, except for Ayn Rand’s ranting at the end about the power of “I” – where she sits and ghoes on and on almost insanely about how important “I” is.
It only takes about one to three days to read the whole book, so I would recommend it; because even if you don’t like it, it isn’t much of a waste of time.

I may have had some extra basing on the theme because I read it after The Screwtape Letters (by: C.S. Lewis), in which the last chapter talked about democracy.

"For 'democracy' or the 'democratic spirit' (diabolical sense)leads to a nation without great men, a nation mainly of subliterates, morally flaccid from lack of discipline in youth, full of the cocksureness which flattery breeds on ignorance, and soft from lifelong pampering."

So I had a whole chapter of what equallizing society meant, before I read Anthem.

and this is just a random thought that I strongly felt while reading the book -
I always thought Anthem would make a really good graphic novel series.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Two of my friends now love the series, and so do two English teachers. I haven’t begun on the other books yet.

One of my friends hated it so much she stopped reading it.
But then again, she doesn’t like fantasy.

A story about "The Picture of Dorian Gray" — 1 year ago

I admit that this book was a slow read; and a little too boring at times, but it has a fantastic ending, and is an extraordinarily original piece of work.

My friend absolutely loved it, but we have figured out that I like action paced suspense sorts of literature, and she likes F. Scott. So make of it what you will.

After finishing the whole book, I definitely did not regret it (though I did have to drag myself through some parts).
