Lava Dog a heart warming story — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is a very honest story of a marine and his battle to get his beloved found pupppy ‘Lava’ out of Iraq.

I appreciated Lt. Kopelman’s realness and description. It is nice to see a heartwarming story to come out of such a difficult war that is all too vivid from the explinations and imagery.

Why I recommend "The Culture Code: An Ingenious Way to Understand Why People Around the World Live and Buy as They Do" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book is a fascinating look into cultures. The author attempts to uncover view points that make products successful in one country while they are absolute failures elsewhere. I woudl say this is insightful, engaging, and highly interesting.

I currently live in Germany and I can understand his logic and reasoning on his conclusions.

Very fascinating and highly recommended!

Ok if you have nothing better to read... — 3 years ago

I agree with the poster below. While the book had some interesting and thought provoking moments, they were all too seldom. It did seem to turn into a large political rant, which I as well agreed with, however that was not enough to make me enjoy this book & recommend it to others.

If you do start reading it stick with it… it does get better. Either that or I got more accustomed to the complaining.

A story about "Ciao, America!: An Italian Discovers the U.S." — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It is a fascinating take on American from an Italian perspective. He occassionally states the obvious, however there are other things that make you think.

I love to learn about America in the world and others reactions to it, so I would recommend this book. It is a quick read broken into months during Severgnini’s stay in Washington DC.

A story about "Me!: Handprint Books" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

While this is a childrens book, it is one of the most delightful and beautifully illustrated that I have read in a long time. I have the German version ‘Ich’ and each time I read it, it brings a smile to my face. A wonderful gift for a loved one of any age.

A story about "One Year Off: Leaving It All Behind for a Round-the-World Journey with Our Children" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This was my introduction to travel writing… It is a non-fiction account of how a man decides to take his chidren out of school, sell nearly everything they own, and depart on a world adventure. Fascinating!

Great book... same as 'I thought my father was God' — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is a great collection of stories listed under different themes. This is part of an NPR project for listeners to send in their most touching and honest stories… the results are truly amazing!

This is the British version, it is the same as ‘I thought my father was God’ just to save the hassle of buying both.
