A story about "Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I enjoyed this more than ‘The Tipping Point’ Gladwell’s other book. I was first intrigued by the beginning with the Art History piece (having majored in Art History).

Many valid points are brought up in this book. It is thought provoking and coversation evoking. It falls into the genere of non-fiction Freakonomics type of coming to random conclusions based on facts and research.

Try it out! It is very popculture.

A story about "The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The information is interesting, however it is reiterated time and time again as Gladwell constantly seems to reclarify his prior point.

I enjoyed Blink! more than this book, however after reading blink first I decided I would also try this one out.

Why I recommend "Freakonomics [Revised and Expanded]: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I appreciate the simple concept of taking daunting ‘Economics’ and making it more palatable for those without a business heavy background.

The authors make this very fascinating, entertaining, and most of all very understandable.

I love a book that will challenge its reader to ascertain reasoning on their own and not always accept what is spoon fed to them by the media. This is one of those books.

Why I recommend "Honeymoon with My Brother: A Memoir" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I have read loads of travel books. This one sticks out in my mind as being one of my favorites that people can relate to on many levels.

Not only did this pair of brothers leave it all behind and set off to explore the world, their relationship, and their past, they also inspire the reader to learn more about the world first hand.

This is a very honest memoir filled with fascinating stories from many countries around the world. Suddenly he makes getting ditched before his wedding day sound like a blessing.

Why I recommend "Confessions of an Economic Hitman (Unabridged)" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book is interesting and thought provoking. After reading this you will consider America on a more global scale and really think about how the seemingly mundane affect others.

It is a pity that those with power, education, and money seem to waste it steering things towards their own benefits.

This is a great read for those who are interested in global economics and those who want to read something that is not portrayed in the news or mainstream media.

A story about "Into the Wild" — 2 years ago

This is an interesting book for a nature buff or someone looking for adventure. It makes the reader analyze their own chosen path. I admired McCandless for his audacity, his dedication, and his strength (yes, I know that seems ironic).

This is a book that will get you thinking, however, as other reviews have stated, it is also a book that seems to have a lot of filler.

Plane Insanity — 2 years ago

I started to become an flight attendant, and wanted to read everything by people in this career path. The author documents many instances of both the fun and the irritating things that he must do for his job.

I would only really suggest this if you are in the aviation field and will identify with the author, or if you don’t have anything better to read.

A story about "A Thousand Days in Venice (Ballantine Reader's Circle)" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This falls into the genere of books that is about a woman falling in love with a foreigner and attempting to live life in another culture. This is a book that is probably a bit more geared to an older crowd, as the author is middle aged.

Many things seem sporadic and to come out of no where in the book, such as meeting a stranger and deciding to get married, but to each his (or her!) own.

It is a modern day international love story.

5 People You meet in Heaven — 2 years ago

I would say the underlying concept of helping people to deal with life and its nuances is nice. It is a bit fanciful and seems to be ‘self-help’ religious style.

Take it for what it is worth, it will make you think about things, and it is an interesting take on Albom’s view of what an afterlife is like.

A story about "Ella in Europe: An American Dog's International Adventures" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

If you can get past the author’s strange and often verbose style of writing then you will enjoy this heartwarming tale of a dog (Ella) being able to experience the European dog’s life.

Living in Europe this is one of the striking differences you quickly notice and seldom grow accustomed to. Dogs without leashes, dogs in the mall, in the restaurant, in the book store.

If you appreciate dogs, you will find this book interesting.
