Breena Clarke adds a great deal of depth to the characters in “Stand the Storm”. The way that she writes seems realistic and believable, as if the characters could have been real people at one time. Her use of words was challenging in that I sometimes found myself looking up unfamiliar words. Nice read.

The Sisterhood of Blackberry Corner

This was a nicely written book. The dialogue was soo real; believable. The characters had some depth to them as well. The storyline was a bit much. And the book went in a direction that I had not considered; that’s what a book is supposed to do, right?

Tabloid Love: Looking for Mr. Right in All the Wrong Places

This is an easy read sprinkled w/a little drama as in relationships gone wrong. Some times funny, but since it’s based on someone’s real life it was a bit of a downer at times too. I like the activity in and around NYC!

Freestyle - The Art of Rhyme

...if you are a lover of hip hop, this is a must see. I enjoyed all of the freestyling. The doc was an education and broke the genre down into several categories including cyphers and battles and the difference between the two – if you don’t know, but also providing many examples.

Also, nice to see Mos Def doing his thing and many others including a focus on Supernatural and Juice. Oh, and of course, my fav band, The Roots w/a young Black Thought and ?uestlove.

Just altogether cool!

it has so many snippets of hilarity! It is written in a quirky, yet real words way. Some of the episodes are not believeable in that who has the finances to traverse the world like that …? But that is just not my world or options that I have (at least I have not yet had those options). Love, love, love this book. I plan to re-read it again in the next few weeks. had borrowed a copy from the library, but I have to have this one in my library.
